Trilobites (meaning "three lobes") are a group of animals that lived from the Cambrian to the Permian, which was throughout the entire Paleozoic era. A close relative of the modern wood louse, trilobites lived on the sea floor, eating anything they could find. They could curl up into a ball to protect themselves and were one of the first animals to evolve eyes, which allowed them to see food and predators.

In The Land Before Time

Three trilobites (only two are seen in the picture below) of an unknown species are seen swimming in the opening of The Land Before Time III: The Time of the Great Giving.

  • The trilobite is the oldest creature in the entire The Land Before Time franchise, first evolving 521 million years ago.
