"The Search for the Great Valley" is an abridged book adaption of The Land Before Time, written by Jim Razzi. The pictures in the book are shown as cels from the film itself. It was printed in softcover with two designs, with one being extremely rare to obtain. Like "The Illustrated Story" and "Friends in Need", the book contains cut and rearranged scenes that are not seen in the movie.
Plot Summary[]
The story in the book plays out similarly to the original film, beginning with the birth of Littlefoot, the little longneck losing his mother, and meeting his friends on their journey to the Great Valley. However, the book ends abruptly when Littlefoot finds the Great Valley alone and turns back to save his friends, similar to "Friends in Need" where the book ends after the kids save Cera from the lizard-head pack. The Great Valley solo discovery scene is part of the original ending. Like "Friends in Need", the book is more of a summary compared to The Illustrated Story, but even more so.
