- Petrie: Long, long time ago, when little blinky lights in big darkness even more shiny, when Great Night Circle real smooth, not pockety like now, when whole world very different. Back then, there no Threehorn, no Longneck, not even Sharptooth. No, only one type animal, who fill sky with mighty screech and big flappy sound. This most smart, most brave, most handsome creature to ever rule world, the Flyers. [imaginary flyers appear, standing on a mountain ledge]
- Cera: What?! Hold it right there.
- [the imaginary Flyers disappear]
- Cera: That's not even close to the way it happened.
- Petrie: Is too.
- Cera: Says who?
- Petrie: Me uncle Pterano, that who. He tell me all about it when me just nestling.
- Cera: Well, he told you wrong.
- [Petrie falls to the ground]
- Ducky: I did not know you had an uncle.
- [Petrie chews the leaf, then swallowing while gulping]
- Petrie: Well, um, that because he go away when we all babies.
- Cera: Go away? Ha! You mean he was sent away. [Petrie gasps] My father once told me that the grown-ups kicked your uncle out of the herd. [Petrie starts growling with Spike restraining him]
- Littlefoot: Wow! What did he do?
- Cera: Uh, I forget that part. But I do remember it was pretty awful.
- [they both gasp while Petrie flies away and sits on a log, then the farwalkers arrive]
- Petrie: Ohh. Lookie. [pointing to the farwalkers] Who are they?
- Littlefoot: Far Walkers. Grandpa said we were coming into the Wandering Time.
- Cera: Where are they wandering from?
- Littlefoot: Away from the cold lands, looking for food.
- [Cera grabs the leaf, eating it]
- Littlefoot: They know they can rest here and then go on their way.
- Cera: Yeah. With a belly full of our tree-stars.
- Petrie: Only if you not eat them all first.
- Cera: What did you say?
- Petrie: Uh, I say, oh, gee, that sure be the worst.
- [Cera growls at Petrie]
- Grandma: [offscreen] Littlefoot! Littlefoot!
- Ducky: Littlefoot, that is your grandma calling.
- Littlefoot: Huh?
- Mama Swimmer: [offscreen] Ducky! Spike!
- Ducky: Let us go home, Spike.
- Cera's Dad: [offscreen] Cera, time for bed!
- Cera: We'd better go. [she walks away, Petrie flying beside her] A world run by Flyers. Ha!
- Petrie: Was too.
- Cera: Was not.
- Petrie: Was too.
- Cera: Was not.
- Petrie: Was too.
- Cera: Was not.
- Grandpa: [offscreen] Littlefoot!
- Littlefoot: Huh?
- Grandpa: [offscreen] Littlefoot!
- Littlefoot: Uh, coming! [he comes to bed]
- [they all sleep, then grunting, then breaking the pinecone]
- Littlefoot: Ow! [he shakes the pinecone pieces off] Huh? [he looks at the flying rock, then explosion] Whoa! [gasping] Grandpa! Grandma! Did you see it?
- [they both get up]
- Littlefoot: Wasn't that amazing?
- Grandma: [yawning] Wasn't that amazing, Littlefoot?
- Littlefoot: The way that thing flew across the sky, and that light, and that noise, and, and... You didn't see any of it?
- [they both shake their heads, then sighing]
- Grandpa: Littlefoot, we need to talk.
- Littlefoot: Uh, okay. About what?
- Grandma: About what you say last night. You see, dear, word has gotten around...
- Ducky's Mom: And it's made some of our guests a bit, well, upset.
- Spiketail: Upset? That's putting it mildly.
- Cera's Dad: There's no reason to get all huffy.
- Spiketail: Hmmph!
- Cera's Dad: Hmmph, yourself.
- Grandma: Littlefoot, why don't you tell everyone exactly what you saw?
- Littlefoot: Well, I-- I saw a flying rock.
- Cera's Dad: There. You see? Nothing unusual about a flying rock. We've all seen them.
- Littlefoot: Yeah, but this one was different.
- [Cera's Dad groans]
- Littlefoot: It-- It flew real low and it shined like the Bright Circle, only blue, and it made a crackling sound like fire in the trees.
- [they all chatter while murmuring]
- Spiketail: Look here. Nobody else saw this thing. How do you explain that?
- Littlefoot: I don't know. I guess everybody else was asleep. You believe me, don't you, Grandpa?
- Grandpa: Of course I believe you, Littlefoot, but, uh...
- Littlefoot: But what?
- Grandpa: But perhaps you say a flying rock that only seemed different. Perhaps you were still a little sleepy. Or maybe it was something you saw in a dream. Isn't that possible?
- [they both murmur]
- Littlefoot: Well, I-- I guess so. Only...
- Rainbow Face 1: It's always like this, isn't it?
- Rainbow Face 2: Yes, if they don't see it with their own eyes, it doesn't exist. What limited thinking.
- [the rainbow faces walk towards Grandpa]
- Grandpa: Uh, I beg your pardon?
- Rainbow Face 1: As well you should. I mean, what if the little Longneck did see something extraordinary?
- Rainbow Face 2: Miraculous.
- Cera's Dad: Impossible.
- Rainbow Face 2: Really? [walks towards Mr. Threehorn] Have you really seen all there is to see? Are there no mysteries left for you?
- Cera's Dad: Well-- Well, uh, um, no.
- Rainbow Face 1: [to Cera's Dad] Ah. Then why do you call the Mysterious Beyond "mysterious"? Why not the "Boring" Beyond? Or the [starts to mime typing] "Ooh, Nothing Out Here of Any Interest to Us" [stops miming] Beyond?
- ["Beyond the Mysterious Beyond" begins]
- Rainbow Face 1: Don't you ever wonder what's out there? [singing] Beyond the Mysterious Beyond out past the smallest light that's twinkling. You cannot even have an inkling of what is going on. [stops singing] For example, there's this enormous black-
- Rainbow Face 2: [clears throat, singing] Beyond the Mysterious Beyond out where the darkness is the scariest, out where the wonders are the rariest past the edge of dawn.
- Rainbow Face 1: [singing] There's so much more to everything than anyone supposes.
- Rainbow Face 2: [singing] The answers lie inside your dreams, and underneath your noses.
- Cera: [singing] Beyond this Mysterious Beyond, they act like they really think they know it all, but I won't believe it till they show it all. I trust what my eyes can see, not some dumb beyond.
- Cera's Dad: Friends of yours?
- Spiketail: Uh, not really. They joined up with us some time ago. Always asking questions, talking in riddles. Harmless, I think. But, well, they are a bit strange.
- Cera's Dad: You're all a bit strange if you ask me.
- Littlefoot: [singing] Beyond the Mysterious Beyond. Think of the things that we could see there. Oh, how I wish that we could be there. All of my friends and me.
- Both: [singing] If stars can fall and rocks can fly, and mountains catch on fire. We can set our sights beyond the sky.
- All: [singing] Or maybe even higher! Beyond!
- Rainbow Face 1: [singing] Beyond the Mysterious Beyond!
- All: [singing] The Mysterious Beyond!
- Rainbow Face 1: [singing] Trust in your own imagination!
- Cera: Hmmph!
- Both: [singing] You are a part of the creation of all that lies beyond, the Mysterious Beyond!
- All: [singing] The Mysterious Beyond! Beyond!
- [the music ends, the twinkling sky disappears]
- Grandpa: I'm sorry, but what are you saying?
- Rainbow Face 2: We're saying, what if this was no ordinary flying rock?
- Rainbow Face 1: What if it was, for example, a Stone of Cold Fire?
- Other Dinosaurs: What does the Rainbow Face mean?
- Littlefoot: What is a Stone of Cold Fire?
- Rainbow Face 2: Glad you asked.
- Rainbow Face 1: Some say that these stones can shine light without heat.
- Rainbow Face 2: Some believe they can give powers far beyond our comprehension, heal the sick and other miracles.
- Rainbow Face 1: Then again, still others believe that such stones are a message.
- Cera's Dad: What kind of message?
- Rainbow Face 2: A message from beyond the Mysterious Beyond.
- All: Ooh!
- Cera's Dad: [stamping on the ground] Quiet! You're not from around here, are you?
- Rainbow Face 2: You might say that.
- Cera's Dad: Then let me tell you how things work in these parts.
- Rainbow Face 1: Oh, please do.
- Rainbow Face 2: This should be fascinating.
- Cera's Dad: First, a flying rock is a flying rock. Second, fire can't be cold. And third, there is nothing beyond the Mysterious Beyond.
- Rainbow Face 1: You're sure?
- Cera's Dad: Yes. And I'm also sure I don't want any ranting Rainbow Faces filling our young ones' heads with rubbish.
- Littlefoot: [to Cera's Dad] Please. I know where it fell. We could go find it and...
- Cera's Dad: No. The Smoking Mountains are far away in the Mysterious Beyond. Totally off-limits. There are Sharpteeth and-and fire pits. And that's that. No.
- Littlefoot: But...
- Grandpa: I'm sorry, Littlefoot. But until the Far Walkers leave the Valley, it might be better if we didn't make any more fuss about that flying rock. All right.
- Littlefoot: [sighing] Yes, Grandpa.
- [they all walk away]
- Grandpa: Of course you can always talk to me about it. I am curious about such things, you know.
- Littlefoot: I know, Grandpa. So what do you think it was?
- Grandpa: Well, that's hard to say.
- [they both laugh while the Rainbow Faces look at them]
- Petrie: My turn! My turn! [to Littlefoot] How come you not play?
- Littlefoot: I'm still thinking about this morning. Except for Grandma and Grandpa, nobody believes me.
- Ducky: We believe you. Right, Spike?
- Spike: [eats treestars] Mm-hmm.
- Ducky: Um, only, um, Littlefoot? Well, I think there can be a stone in a fire and a stone that is cold. But how can a stone that is cold be on fire? I do not understand. No, no, no.
- Littlefoot: I know it doesn't make such sense, but I saw what I saw. [to Petrie] You believe me, don't you?
- Petrie: Uh, Petrie not one to think about it. Story too spooky.
- Littlefoot: [asking if Cera believes in Littlefoot's stone of cold fire sighting] Cera?
- Cera: Oh, I don't know. I mean, maybe if I'd seen it myself...
- Littlefoot: That's it. If we found that Stone of Cold Fire, everyone could see it for themselves. That would prove I was telling the truth.
- Petrie: But you hear grown-ups. Smoking Mountains too dangerous.
- Pterano: [lands heavily on a tree branch above Petrie] Nonsense!
- [Petrie falls down, then they all gasp, then Petrie whimpers, then Pterano jumps down]
- Pterano: [grabs Petrie] Did I startle you, Petrie?
- Petrie: Yes... No. H-How do you know my name?
- Pterano: Petrie, I'm heartbroken. Don't you recognize your dead old uncle?
- Petrie: [gasps] PTERANO! [flies to the beak, laughing]
- Cera: What are you doing here?
- Pterano: Migrating, naturally, like the others out there in the field. Boldly searching an unforgiving wasteland, to find a more hospitable place to call home.
- Cera: Well, you won't find it here.
- Pterano: Don't tell me, you must be old Threehorn's daughter.
- Cera: How'd you know?
- Pterano: Let's just say there is a strong family resemblance.
- Cera: Oh. Thank you. [smiles]
- Pterano: Ah, and you must be-
- Petrie: Littlefoot. Him my good friend. Cera and Ducky and Spike too. [points at each of them]
- Pterano: Yes, yes. [to Littlefoot] But this is the one who claims he saw a Stone of Cold Fire.
- Littlefoot: [sighs] I guess you don't believe me either.
- Pterano: Oh, no, dear child. I believe you completely. I know how stubborn the other grown-ups can be. That's why I had to leave the herd, you know. They simply had no vision.
- Petrie: Oh, but me believe Littlefoot.
- Littlefoot: [to Petrie] You do?
- Cera: So much for "story too spooky." [Petrie scowls]
- Pterano: Grand. Then we all agree. But the only way to convince everyone else is, as you say, to go and find that stone.
- Littlefoot: Uh, I-I-I wasn't serious. I was just thinking out loud. Anyway, uh, we were about to go home.
- Cera: Uh, yeah. Our parents will be worried about us.
- Sierra: Well, we don't want nobody getting worried now, do we? [flies into the area and lands on Pterano's right]
- Rinkus: Oh, no, no. They might think something awful has happened to you. [flies into the area, cackling, then lands on Pterano's left]
- [Pterano hits Sierra and Rinkus with his wings, knocking them backwards]
- Ducky: Who are they?
- Pterano: Rinkus and Sierra, never mind them. They're just tired from our long journey, [looks at Rinkus and Sierra] and not thinking clearly.
- Littlefoot: Uh, yeah. Well, uh, we have to go. [nudges Petrie]
- Petrie: Oh, that okay. Me stay here with Uncle Pterano.
- Cera: [scowls] Petrie, it's time to go.
- Petrie: Hmph. Maybe see you later?
- Pterano: [to Petrie] Of course. Now, run along. [to them all] Oh, and if you change your mind about going after that stone, I'd be happy to help! Ta-ta! [looking at Rinkus and Sierra]
- Rinkus: Oh, you bent my beak.
- Pterano: Then next time keep it shut.
- Sierra: Why should we? Them brats wasn't falling for your little act. I say we go find that Cold Fire thingy on our own.
- Pterano: I repeat, Mr. Sierra, we don't know where the stone landed.
- Rinkus: Then why not simply make the Longneck tell us where it is? [makes a head cutting gesture and a slitting sound] Or else.
- Pterano: [hits Rinkus again and charges at him while Sierra laughs] Mr. Rinkus, if you threaten the young ones, it will put the elders on alert. They will watch our every move, and our cause will be lost. Now, is that what you want?!
- Rinkus: [walks backwards quickly] N-n-n-n-n-no, of course not. [trips a log]
- Pterano: Therefore, we must be calm and patient. Young Littlefoot will talk. And when he does, the Stone of Cold Fire will be mine.
- [Littlefoot runs towards Granpa and Grandma, but he slips]
- Littlefoot: Whoa! [falls in the water and somehow has a leaf on his head after getting up]
- Grandma: [laughing] It's a little early for your bath, dear. Why the rush?
- Littlefoot: Rush? No rush. Uh, I just... [the leaf falls off his head] I suddenly felt kind of dirty.
- Grandpa: Were you splashing around in the bubbling mud again?
- Littlefoot: No. We were just sitting around talking in the tall trees.
- Grandpa: Oh, well, that's perfectly-
- Littlefoot: Only, then we had a visitor.
- Grandpa: Oh? And who was that?
- Littlefoot: Petrie's uncle Pterano.
- Grandma: Oh, my goodness! Here, in the Great Valley?
- Littlefoot: And he was with some other Flyers. [he climbs out of the water] I know he's Petrie's uncle, but there's something about him that... [sighs] Well, I just don't like him. Is that bad?
- Grandpa: Littlefoot, you have good instincts, and you should pay attention to them.
- Grandma: Did Pterano tell you why he left the herd?
- Littlefoot: Well, he said because the other grown-ups couldn't see very well.
- Grandpa: [angry] What nerve. [lifts his tail up in the air, then his the water] We could see just fine. As a matter of fact, we saw right through him.
- Grandma: Now, Grandpa, you haven't even seen him yet, and he's already made you upset.
- Grandpa: [calms down, then turns around] Oh, I'm sorry. It just sounds like Pterano is up to his old tricks again.
- Littlefoot: What old tricks?
- Grandpa: [turns back to face Littlefoot] Oh, well, let's just say that if we had not put a stop to Pterano, we might never have made it to the Great Valley.
- Littlefoot: That's awful.
- Grandpa: Yes, it was. Someday, when you're older, I'll tell you about it.
- Littlefoot: Oh, why do I have to wait until...
- Grandma: [to Littlefoot] In the meantime, remember, Pterano can sound as if he knows everything, even when he knows nothing.
- Grandpa: So be careful, will you?
- Littlefoot: Okay. I promise.
- [cut to Pterano with Petrie and the kids]
- Pterano: Onward I flew. The sharptooth gained on me, its foul breath at my tail. Its jaws opened wide. Teeth above me! Teeth below me! It was about to swallow me whole.
- All: Ooh!
- Petrie's Mom: Pterano! It's time for the young ones to take their nap.
- Pterano: Of course.
- Kid 1: Okay, bye.
- Kid 2: Wasn't that neat?
- Kid 3: Yeah. I wanna be like Pterano when I grow up.
- Kid 4: Me too.
- Petrie: I'm going to be just like him.
- Pterano: Now, mind your mother, and let's all behave.
- Petrie's Mom: Yes, let's. Come along, Petrie.
- [Petrie starts flying]
- Pterano: [grabs Petrie] Oh, Petrie, could I have a word with you?
- Petrie: Yeah? Oh, yes, Uncle. Gee, you sure lead exciting life.
- Pterano: High praise indeed, coming from you. I understand that you are quite the adventurer yourself.
- Petrie: Oh, you right about that. Me very brave. [he growls]
- Petrie's Mom: [offscreen] Petrie, where are you? [Petrie stops growling]
- Pterano: Well, then, as one adventurer to another, perhaps you could do me one tiny, harmless favour.
- [cut to Littlefoot, Cera, and Ducky]
- Littlefoot: You're late.
- Petrie: Uh, sorry. Uh, Petrie, um, take a big nap. [fake yawning] So, uh, what we miss?
- Cera: Littlefoot is one pointy-seed ahead of Spike, and this is Spike's last turn.
- Ducky: Shh!
- [they watch Spike, kicking the rock by rolling into the pinecones]
- Spike: Yeah!
- Cera: Oh, he got two. Spike wins.
- [Ducky runs to Spike, then jumping on top of Spike]
- Littlefoot: Oh, well. Good game, Spike.
- [Spike licks Littlefoot, laughing]
- Petrie: [to Littlefoot] Oh, too bad you lose, Littlefoot. [lands on the ground] But that the way the rock rolls. And speaking of rock... Say, how about that Stone of Cold Fire, huh?
- All: [to Petrie] What?
- Petrie: Me just thinking, sure wish me see it too. Where you say it land again?
- Littlefoot: Well, it went over the top of Threehorn Peak, but kind of off to the side. Oh, what does it matter? We can't go there anyway.
- Ducky: What do you ask, Petrie?
- Petrie: Me? [nervous laughter] Oh, no reason. Just, uh, want to know.
- Cera: Ha! It's more like your uncle wants to know. Right, Petrie?
- Petrie: No! Yes! No! Well, maybe him, too, but, honest, me... [trips by a rock] Whoa!
- Ducky: Petrie! [gets off of Spike]
- [Petrie continues rolling down, finally smashing into the pinecones]
- Cera: Petrie!
- Petrie: [getting up] Me just not cut out for this game.
- Ducky: [to Petrie] Petrie, are you okay?
- Cera: No, he's not okay, because it's not okay to tell a lie.
- Littlefoot: I'm sorry, Petrie, but my grandparents told me to be careful around your uncle. Sometimes he uses his words to fool you.
- Petrie: [to Littlefoot] No, you wrong. He not do that.
- Cera: I think Pterano is trouble, and so are those other Flyers he was with. My dad says that you can tell a lot about somebody by the quality of his friends.
- Petrie: Oh, yeah? Well-Well, then, me in trouble, 'cause my friends acting like stinkbugs. [sobbing while flying away]
- Ducky: Petrie, do not go. No, no, no.
- Cera: Ah, who cares? Maybe he should just go off with the rest of those stupid old Flyers. [walks away]
- Littlefoot: That's what worries me.
- [cut to Petrie and Pterano]
- Petrie: [landing on a tree branch, sniffling] They so mean.
- Pterano: [is shown to be sitting on another branch] There, there, Petrie. Come to dear old Uncle Pterano. [jumps down to Petries branch] Tell me everything. [hugs Petrie]
- [cut at night, with the dinosaurs sleeping, with a dragonfly flying to the dinosaurs, then sleeping with Ducky and Spike with a dragonfly flying]
- Ducky: Oh, Spike, I cannot sleep.
- [Spike mumbles]
- Ducky: No, I am not hungry. I am worried about Petrie. Friends should not make friends feel so bad. No, no, no. I am going to find Petrie. I am going to make things all better. [he walks away by Spike, then Spike yawns, then continues snoring, then Ducky continues walking by the dinosaurs]
- Pterano: [offscreen] Sierra.
- Ducky: Huh?
- Pterano: Settle down, will you?
- Rinkus: Why should we?
- Sierra: What are we waiting for? We could be halfway to the Smoking Mountains by now.
- Pterano: Yes, with half the Great Valley right on our tails.
- Rinkus: Why would they come after us?
- Pterano: The young ones have told their parents they have seen me.
- [Ducky looks at Pterano, Rinkus, and Sierra]
- Pterano: If we leave in a hurry, they might think that we are up to no good.
- Rinkus: But we are up to no good.
- Pterano: [to Rinkus] No, I work for the greater good. My purpose is noble! They have never understood. But soon I will prove I am right. Until then, we must be careful. We will leave with the rest of the Far Walkers once the Great Night Circle starts to shrink.
- Sierra: [grunts]
- Rinkus: And then we will find the Stone of Cold Fire, yes?
- Pterano: Yes. And I shall take my rightful place as leader of the herd, and I will rule over the most beautiful, fertile land in the world, the Great Valley.
- Ducky: Oh, no, no, no. I must tell Littlefoot. [slides down, then grunting, then gasping, the walking backwards under a shadow]
- Sierra: [to Ducky] It's kinda late for a stroll, isn't it?
- [Ducky gasps, then looks at Sierra's shadow, then at Sierra himself, then screams]
- Rinkus: Ey, what was that?
- [Sierra flies and lands while holding Ducky between his toes]
- Sierra: We got us a little spy.
- [Ducky tries to get out of of Sierra's hand]
- Pterano: Well, um, that forces me to make a small change in our flight plan.
- Ducky: [gulping, then screaming with Littlefoot waking up] Put me down!
- Littlefoot: [gasping] Ducky!
- Ducky: I am not a Flyer! [screaming]
- Adult 1: What's happening?!
- Adult 2: What's that?!?
- Ducky: Help!!!
- Cera's Dad: What is that???
- All: Sharpteeth!!!
- Adult 3: Run!!!!!!
- Adult 4: What are they?!!
- Adult 5: What's going on??!
- [the dinosaurs all run with Littlefoot running away, with Petrie looking at the moon with the Flyers flying by Ducky]
- Ducky: [offscreen] Help, help, help!!
- Petrie: Where is she going?
- Littlefoot: [to Petrie] Wherever your uncle and the other flyers are taking her.
- [he gasps, then flying]
- Petrie: [to Littlefoot] You wrong. Pterano never do...
- Petrie's Mom: No, Petrie. It's true. It IS Pterano.
- Petrie: No. [sniffling]
- [cut to the flyers holding Ducky going to a cave, then hitting Rinkus]
- Rinkus: Watch where you're going.
- Sierra: You think this is easy? Then how about you carry her?
- Petrie: [flying while panting] Stop! Uncle, you make mean Flyer let Ducky go.
- Pterano: Petrie, listen to me. Tell the others not to follow, and no harm will come to the Swimmer.
- Petrie: I no understand why you do this.
- Rinkus: None of your business, you little gnat. Now, buzz off! [hits Petrie, falling down]
- Ducky: Petrie!
- Petrie: [continues falling to the water] No!
- [Littlefoot continues running, then hitting Rinkus]
- Pterano: If there's one thing I will not tolerate, it's violence.
- Rinkus: Then why are you hitting ME!?
- Pterano: Right. Make that two things. Violence and stupid questions. [hits Rinkus]
- Petrie: [offscreen] Help! [falling the water, splashing]
- [Littlefoot goes in the water, then swimming, then taking a deep breath, then grabbing Petrie on the head]
- Petrie: Whew!
- [they both hear Ducky screaming, then gasping]
- Ducky: Help, help, help!!
- [cut to the dinosaurs]
- Ducky's Mom: Look, those Flyers have taken my daughter, and I want her back before-- before--
- Petrie's Mom: Don't worry. My brother may be many bad things, but he would NEVER let those others harm her.
- Cera's Dad: Bah! We couldn't trust him before, and we can't trust him now. And why didn't somebody tell me Pterano was talking to the young ones? Cera?
- Cera: [to Cera's Dad] I-I-I thought you would be angry.
- Cera's Dad: Angry? Angry? Oh, I'm not angry. I'm FURIOUS!!!
- [they all run away]
- Grandpa: You cannot blame the children, Mr. Threehorn. They didn't know Pterano was so dangerous. They weren't even with us when it all happened.
- [they all chatter]
- Littlefoot: When what all happened? Nobody tells us anything.
- Grandma: Littlefoot is right. I am sorry if this will be painful for you.
- Petrie's Mom: [sighing] It is time they knew the truth.
- Grandpa: Well, this all began not long after you little ones were separated from us in the great Earthshake.
- [cut to Pterano]
- Grandpa: We too set out to find the Great Valley. Then, as now, we made our decisions as a group, no one opinion outweighing the others. But Pterano didn't like being part of the herd. He wanted to be in charge of it. For some reason, he felt that he always knew more than the rest of us.
- Petrie: Maybe he knew more because he fly up high, see stuff others could not see.
- Cera: Shh!
- Grandpa: [clears throat] As I was saying, for some reason, some of the herd believed Pterano. Soon, he led them away from the rest of us. They were sure he had all the answers. They were sure he would never lead them astray. They were wrong.
- Adult 6: What is it?
- Adult 7: Oh! Danger! Run!
- [they all shout]
- Adult 8: Hurry! Run!
- [the rock rolls down, then Sharpteeth appear]
- Adult 9: Sharpteeth!!!
- [they dinosaurs walk backwards, then starting to attack, then attacking all, then letting go, then falling down, then flying, then cut to the dinosaurs at night, sleeping]
- Grandpa: He never told us why it happened, only that it wasn't his fault. And we never saw any of the others again.
- [cut back to Littlefoot, Cera, Spike, and Petrie]
- Petrie: But he right. It not his fault others not know how to fly away.
- Grandpa: Nevertheless, it was his fault that they got into such danger.
- Grandma: A real leader must be willing to take the credit when things are good, and the blame when they go bad.
- Cera's Dad: But not Pterano. Oh, no. He just kept changing his story ans lying and scheming and...
- Ducky's Mom: Quiet! QUIET!!! We all know what happened before. Right now somebody has got to go rescue my little Ducky.
- Cera's Dad: Uh, yes. My point exactly.
- Petrie's Mom: Littlefoot, we need you to tell us exactly where to find that flying rock.
- Cera's Dad: Oh, not that nonsense again.
- Petrie's Mom: Whether or not I believe there is such a thing as a Stone of Cold Fire, that is where they will go, am I right?
- Cera's Dad: Mm-hmm.
- Grandma: Go on, Littlefoot. Tell us.
- [he gasps, then sighs, then looking at the dinosaurs]
- Littlefoot: I told them where the flying rock is. Why don't they go?
- Petrie: [groaning] This is all my fault.
- Cera: You can say that again.
- Petrie: Why? If me say again, only make me feel worser.
- Cera: [to Petrie] That's the basic idea.
- Littlefoot: We can't wait any longer. We have to save Ducky ourselves.
- Cera: Aren't you forgetting? The grown-ups said the Smoking Mountains are off-limits.
- Petrie: Yeah. They be real mad if we gone.
- Littlefoot: By the time they're through arguing, we could go and be back again. They won't even notice.
- Cera: Well, even if you could catch up to those Flyers, then what will you do?
- Littlefoot: I don't know. But Grandpa told me to trust my instincts. And my instincts tell me we've got to do something.
- [Spike bleats, then kicking the grass, begins to run. Littlefoot, Cera and Petrie then catch a glimpse at an image of Ducky, Spike had drawn in the dirt.]
- Petrie: Oh, Ducky.
- Cera: Yeah, let's do it. Wait up, Spike!
- Petrie: We coming, Ducky!
- Rainbow Face 1: I told you that the young ones had potential, especially the little Longneck. Think we should help them out?
- Rainbow Face 2: You know that isn't allowed.
- Rainbow Face 1: Oh, yes, I-I know.
- [cut to the flyers and the river, taking Ducky]
- Ducky: Careful. Careful!
- [when Sierra finally lands on a rock after kidnapping Ducky]
- Ducky: You are not very good at landing, are you?
- Sierra: Pipe down, you, or I'll...
- Pterano: Sierra! Show a little self-control, will you?
- Sierra: Self-control, my tailbone! I been putting up with that whiny little voice since we took off. [imitates Ducky] "No, no, no! Yep, yep, yep!" It's driving me nuts, nuts, NUTS!
- Rinkus: Look, no one is coming after us. Maybe we could leave our guest here and be on our way, yes?
- Ducky: Oh, I would not do that if I were you, no, no, no.
- Rinkus: Leave you behind?
- Ducky: No, stand on that edge.
- [the rock of the cliff cracks completely, with Rinkus falling down]
- Ducky: Told him.
- [they both get down]
- Pterano: Ah, Rinkus. Out of the mouths of hatchlings, as they say.
- Rinkus: Yes, well, if you are so smart, who is watching the little babble-beak?
- [they all look at Ducky, trying to climb up, then Pterno, Sierra and Rinkus appear, screaming, then running away, then looking at the Flyers, then jumping down]
- Ducky: Oh, yes. This is much nicer. Only, there is no place to hide! [running away while screaming, then falling into the cave]
- Sierra: Gotcha now.
- [the flyers look down in the hole of the cave]
- Pterano: Ducky! Can you hear me? [echoing] Come out now, child. I promise, we won't hurt you. [echoing] Hurt you, hurt you, hurt you.
- Sierra: Yeah, must have been quite a drop.
- Rinkus: [looking for Ducky] I, uh, I can't see a thing. It's way too dark in there.
- Pterano: Poor thing. So young, so full of life...
- Sierra: So what?
- Pterano: I was responsible for that little Swimmer. And now I've lost her.
- Sierra: Well, Pterano, you should be used to this kinda thing by now.
- [they both fly away, and Pterano, then Ducky, holding on top of the cave]
- Ducky: Ooh, I am very high up. I do not want to fall, no, no...
- [the top of the cave cracks completely]
- Ducky: Noooooooo! [falling in the water, then swimming while getting out] H-Hello? Is anybody there? [echoing] Is anybody there? That is okay. When it comes to dark and scary places, I like them better when they are empty. [she walks away, leaving the shadow of Rainbow Faces, then cut to Littlefoot, Cera, and Spike]
- Cera: Oh, great. We'll never catch those beakheads. It'll take us all day to climb down this side and up the other one.
- Littlefoot: Maybe we won't have to. Look! [looking at the vine] Those vines look strong enough. I'll bet we could use them to walk across.
- Cera: Oh, no. Not this Threehorn.
- Petrie: [singing] Cera a scaredy-egg. Cera a...
- Cera: Hey, I'm not a scaredy-egg. But every time we sneak off and leave the Great Valley, we end up having to crawl across some giant ditch or pointy rocks or something.
- Littlefoot: Yeah?
- Cera: And somehow the only way to do it is if we use some big tipping boulder or rotten old log.
- Spike: Uh-huh.
- Cera: And I always end up at the back of the line, falling off or getting chased by a Sharptooth.
- Petrie: She do have a point.
- Littlefoot: So what do you want to do about it?
- Cera: Well, uh... Well, this time, I'm gonna be the one who goes first. So if there's trouble, I'm not stuck behind, screaming my head off. No. This time, I'm going to be safe.
- Littlefoot: Um, okay.
- [they all walk to the vine, by walking slowly]
- Petrie: [to Spike] Careful. Careful.
- Littlefoot: [tries to walk on the vine, then falling on top] How are you doing, Cera?
- Cera: Fine. I'm doing fine. [looking down at a river] Yeah. Just great. [continues trying to walk on the vine]
- Littlefoot: Keep it up, everybody. We're almost there.
- Petrie: G-G-Good. Then can all relax.
- Spike: Hmm?
- Petrie: [to Spike] Spike, no!
- [he eats the vine of the flower]
- Petrie: Oh!
- [Spike eats the vine again]
- Littlefoot: Spike! HANG ON!!! [Petrie chokes him] PETRIE!!!
- [the vine starts to break completely, by swinging all into a cave]
- Cera: I told you!
- All: Whoa!!
- [they all swing into a cave, with Spike getting tangled up]
- Cera: Don't ever do that again.
- [Spike groans, then they all groan]
- Littlefoot: Well, at least we're all here. I mean, except for Ducky.
- [Spike wheezes]
- Cera: [sighs] Poor Ducky.
- Petrie: Oh, poor Ducky.
- Ducky: [offscreen, sighing] Poor me.
- Petrie: Ducky?
- All: Ducky?
- Littlefoot: You're okay!
- Ducky: Oh! Yes! Yes, I am.
- [Spike grunts, then hugging Spike, then licking Ducky, laughing, with Littlefoot walking by, then they all laugh, then hugging Littlefoot]
- Petrie: [hugs Ducky] But how you get here?
- Ducky: Well, the Flyers chased me and I ran, and I fell through the top of a big cave into a big cold water, and I walked down this big crawl-hole, and then I found you.
- Petrie: [sobbing, then hugging Ducky] Me not understand why Pterano SO mean.
- ["Good Inside" begins]
- Ducky: Do not feel bad. Your uncle was not as mean as the other Flyers.
- Petrie: [sniffles] He-He not?
- Ducky: Oh, no. He was very sad when they dropped me. He was. He was. [singing] Everybody has a lot of good inside them, and everybody has a little bad. Everyone is going to make you happy sometimes, and everyone is going to make you sad. They will trip on your tail on tromp your toes, or knock you in a puddle. It is not that they mean to be mean, no, no. They are only in a bit of a muddle.
- Petrie: [singing] Yeah, everybody want to do the right thing. Only sometimes they do it all wrong. Whoa! [continues singing] When they think you think they really weak and little, they act like they awful big and strong. They stomp all around and talk real loud, but it's just pretendly. They're sticking their beaks all up in the air.
- Ducky: [singing] When they might just wanna be friendly.
- All: [singing] No one's only black or white. We're pink.
- Cera: [singing] And yellow.
- Petrie: [singing] And green.
- Littlefoot: [singing] Sometimes we're wrong.
- Cera: [singing] Sometimes we're right.
- Littlefoot: [singing] But mostly we're somewhere in between. [laughing]
- Cera: [singing] Everybody's got a little dark side to 'im.
- Ducky: [singing] Everyone has got a little light.
- Petrie: [singing] Someone that you care about can hurt your feelings.
- Littlefoot: [singing] And then he can make it all right.
- Cera: [singing] Maybe he's grumpy, maybe he'll shout.
- Littlefoot: [singing] Maybe he'll fill your head full of doubt.
- Ducky: [singing] But if you turn him inside out, there is good inside.
- Petrie: [singing] Yeah, my uncle could be good inside.
- Ducky: [singing] Everybody has...
- Both: [singing] ...good inside.
- Spike: [singing] G-G-G-G-Good.
- All: [singing] Good inside.
- Petrie: See? Uncle Pterano act bad, but he still good, someplace inside.
- Cera: Uh, yeah. Can we go home now?
- Littlefoot: No, Cera. What about the Flyers, and that Stone of Cold Fire?
- Cera: Aw, it's just some dumb old rock. We have Ducky back. Everything is fine.
- Ducky: Cera, what if the Stone of Cold Fire really is a magic thing? Then it would be bad if the Flyers got it. It would. It would.
- Spike: Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
- Cera: Oh, all right, fine. But I still don't know how we're supposed to catch up with them.
- Ducky: Do not worry, Cera. We will find a way!
- [Sierra grabs Ducky again]
- Cera: Ducky!
- [Sierra cackles, then taking Ducky]
- Petrie: Uh, what they doing back?
- Littlefoot: They must've heard Cera scream when we fell into the cave.
- Pterano: [to Sierra, holding Ducky] What are you doing? Let her go.
- Sierra: [to Pterano] Make up your mind, Pterano. You're the one who said the others won't stop us so long as we've got the brat.
- Pterano: Well, yes, I did say that. But, um...
- [Ducky bites Sierra's foot, then falling into a river, screaming]
- Pterano: You lummox! You dropped her!
- Sierra: Of course I dropped her. The little bigmouth bit me.
- [Ducky continues falling into a river, screaming]
- Littlefoot: She's going in a river. Hurry! [he slides down]
- [Cera slides down, then Spike tries to slide down, then Petrie flying down, then Littlefoot trying to slide down, then hitting the neck, then falling in the river, screaming, then swimming up, sputtering]
- Cera: Here she comes!
- Littlefoot: We need something to help uss pull her out.
- [Spike slides faster, then the vines attach the branch]
- Littlefoot: Spike! Those vines might work.
- Spike: Hmm?
- Sierra: Nobody takes a bite out of me and gets away with it. [swooping down]
- Pterano: Look, I said stop! That is a direct order. [groaning]
- [cut to Littlefoot, getting on a log]
- Littlefoot: Don't let go!
- [they all pull a log]
- Petrie: Hurry, Littlefoot! Hurry!
- Ducky: Help! Help! Help!
- Littlefoot: Grab the vine, Ducky! Grab it!
- Ducky: [grabs the vine while gasping, then coughing] I grab-ded it. [he climbs up to the log, then they both grunt]
- Petrie: We slipping!
- Littlefoot: Great. Now, hold on to my tail.
- Ducky: [climbing on Littlefoot's tail, panting] Thank you.
- Cera: You're safe!
- Petrie: But not for long.
- [the Flyers shriek, then they both groan and grunt while letting go the vines, then they both go wakeboarding, by a rock, and two rocks, and waterfall, then splashing in, then looking at the Flyers, gasping, then trying to grab it]
- Pterano: Stop this at once. Get a grip, will you?
- Sierra: Heh! Don't mind if we do.
- [they both grab Pterano's arms, cackling, then swooping down]
- Pterano: Let go of me! How dare you!
- Ducky: They are going to get us.
- Littlefoot: [gasping] Not if we can keep them distracted long enough. Hey, Flyers! Down here!
- Ducky: Littlefoot, what are you doing?
- Littlefoot: [singing] Can't catch us, can't catch us! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
- Sierra: Don't bet on it, you little... [they all hit the wall]
- [they all ride down a waterfall, then they both get off a log, and Cera and Spike stop]
- Cera: Ha! Did you see how those wing-brains hit that rock? Boom!
- Petrie: Yeah. Yeah, but you also see how other flyers grab Uncle Pterano? Them make him chase us. Him not even their leader.
- Pterano: [clears throat] I repeat. I am the leader. I give the orders. You FOLLOW them. Understood?!
- Rinkus: Uh-huh.
- Pterano: Good. [flying away]
- [they both fly away]
- Petrie: Me no get it. How come Pterano still with them? Where they go?
- Cera: Back up to the Smoking Mountains. Where else?
- Petrie: Uncle Pterano! Not go!
- [they hear a thunderclap, then they all chatter]
- Petrie's Mom: I can't find the little ones anywhere!
- Grandma: Oh, my. They must have gone after Ducky themselves.
- Ducky's Mom: Of course they did. They saw us just standing around, arguing with Mr. Threehorn here.
- Cera's Dad: What are you saying, that this is my fault?
- [they all nod]
- Cera's Dad: Oh. Well, w-what'll we do? We could never catch up to them on land.
- Grandpa: Find another Flyer to help you. And hurry.
- [Petrie's Mom flies away, then cut to the Flyers in the rain]
- Rinkus: I can't see a thing!
- Sierra: Ah, quit complaining. What are you, afraid of a little sky water? [thunders Sierra]
- Rinkus: It's not the sky water that worries me.
- [they both thunder Rinkus and Sierra]
- Sierra: Okay, Pterano, you got all the answers. What do we do?
- Pterano: Quickly. Head for the mountain.
- [they all go to a mountain, then they all grunt]
- Rinkus: Very impressive.
- Pterano: Well, I got us down, didn't I? Oh, dear. I hope the children were able to find cover.
- Sierra: Who cares? Once we take over, first thing I'm gonna do is feed them overgrown eggs to the Sharpteeth.
- Pterano: S-S-Sharpteeth?!
- [they hear a thunder clap again]
- Pterano: No! No, I won't hear of it. I'm sorry I ever met either of you. Go on. Shoo!
- ["Very Important Creature" begins]
- Pterano: [singing] I've never needed anyone, I'll go my way alone. I'll use my own intelligence to find that magical stone.
- Sierra: Oh, no, you ain't cuttin' us out, you crazy...
- Rinkus: Please, my friends, we should not be fighting. We all want the same thing, yes? To gain the power of the stone, which we still must find, yes?
- Sierra: Yes. Sorry. I guess I got a little outta line. After all, you are the leader.
- Pterano: [continues singing] Yes, I'm a very important creature, tremendously brave and strong. I find that I am frequently right when others are often wrong. Instead of arguing blindly, they should open their eyes and see that the one who will bring them paradise is the very important me.
- Sierra: He sure is hard on himself, ain't he?
- Pterano: [continues singing] I'm a fabulous fearsome Flyer. I handle life with finesse, when others say "No, it can't be so." My answer is always yes. I was born to be their saviour, that is my destiny. Why do they despise not recognize, the truly fantastic me. Some of us are born to lead while the rest of you must follow.
- Sierra: [singing] I'd like to knock him off his perch.
- Rinkus: [singing] This is getting hard to swallow.
- Pterano: [continues singing] Look at these wings, look at this beak.
- Rinkus: [singing] I guess you could say you're quite unique.
- Sierra: [singing] When I finish with him he won't even squeak.
- Pterano: [singing] What did you say?
- Rinkus: [singing] He said lead the way.
- Sierra: I've had it with that blowhard.
- Rinkus: I know, I know, but be patient. Let him lead us to the stone.
- Sierra: Yeah, yeah, I get ya. Then it'll be time to make a few changes in the pecking order.
- Pterano: [singing] We've a very important mission.
- Rinkus: [singing] A truly impressive quest.
- Pterano: [singing] They think we mean to do them harm.
- Sierra: [singing] When we only want what's best.
- Rinkus: [singing] And when we finally find the stone.
- Pterano: [singing] Then at last they'll see.
- Sierra: [singing] How lucky they are to know.
- Rinkus: [singing] As they watch us from down below.
- Pterano: [singing] What reverence they will show, the very important.
- Rinkus: [singing] Very important.
- Sierra: [singing] Very important.
- Pterano: [singing] Me.
- Rinkus: [singing] The very important we.
- [they all go to a cave]
- Littlefoot: Come on. It's not much farther.
- Cera: I don't care. I'm too tired.
- Petrie: And t-t-t-too c-c-cold.
- Ducky: And too... Ah-ah-choo! And too everything.
- Littlefoot: Look! Over there! Everybody, get inside. [he goes into a cave]
- [they both scream while hearing thunder, then they both go into a cave, then shaking it off]
- Cera: [gasping] Where are we? [looking at a lava]
- Littlefoot: I'm not sure, but I think we're in the base of Threehorn Peak.
- Petrie: That where Stone of Cold Fire land.
- Cera: A fat lot of good that does us. We need to be at the top of the mountain, not the bottom.
- Ducky: Petrie's uncle and the other Flyers might be there already. They might. They might.
- Littlefoot: I don't think so. The wind and the sky water probably stopped them too.
- Petrie: That right. Nobody dumb enough to fly in all that. Too rough.
- Littlefoot: So now we just have to figure out what to do, before they take off again.
- Cera: Oh, great. And while you're at it, figure out how to get us some green food. I'm hungry. [yawning]
- [they both sleep with Cera and Spike]
- Ducky: [yawning] At least we are safe. We are. We are.
- [Littlefoot joins to sleep with Spike and Cera with the Rainbow Faces walking by, then they continue sleeping with Ducky, Cera, Littlefoot, and Petrie]
- Ducky: Huh? Spike, where did you get food?
- Cera: [getting up] Yea! It's not a dream!
- [they both jump in the leaves by Spike]
- Littlefoot: Whoa!
- Petrie: Wahoo!!!
- [Petrie flies in the leaves with Ducky eating a leaf, and Petrie, then Littlefoot eats the leaves]
- Petrie: How do you find food, Littlefoot?
- Littlefoot: It wasn't me. Ducky?
- Ducky: I did not do it. No, no, no!
- Littlefoot: Cera?
- Cera: Don't look at me.
- Petrie: If nobody here bring food, then who...
- [they hear an animal screeching, then gulping]
- Ducky: Ooh.
- [Petrie's teeth begins to chatter, then hearing footsteps of Rainbow Face]
- Littlefoot: [gasping] Maybe it was him. [looking at Rainbow Face] Wait! We won't hurt you!
- [they all run]
- Petrie: Oh, just once, Petrie wish we find cave with nobody in it! [flies to Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky and Spike]
- [cut to Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky and Spike, following Rainbow Face, then jumping over]
- Littlefoot: Where'd he go?
- Cera: There!
- Littlefoot: Stop, please!
- [Littlefoot and Cera follow Rainbow Face]
- Cera: It's a Rainbow Face.
- [Rainbow Face hits the hall, then falling down, causing a thud]
- Littlefoot: We just want to thank you for bringing us all that green food. You don't have to be afraid.
- Rainbow Face 2: Aha! You helped them, didn't you?
- Rainbow Face 1: Uh, well, they were hungry.
- Cera: [to Rainbow Faces] Hey, are you two following us?
- Petrie: Yeah! And how you get in here?
- Rainbow Face 2: Life is full of little mysteries, isn't it? And we're giving away far too many of them.
- Rainbow Face 1: I was only trying to help.
- Rainbow Face 2: Don't tell me that you were only trying to help.
- Ducky: Spike, I do not think they are going to answer our questions.
- Rainbow Face 2: It's always, "Me, me, me, me, me. Self, self, self, self." I'm sick of it!
- Rainbow Face 1: I just hate your attitude.
- Rainbow Face 2: Quiet!
- Littlefoot: Look, sorry to interrupt, but Petrie's uncle and those other flyers are gonna get to the Stone of Cold Fore if we don't stop them.
- Cera: Yeah. We need to get to the top of the mountain, and fast! So you going to help us or not?
- Rainbow Face 2: [sighing] We might as well, now that you know we're here.
- [the sun rises up with Pterano walking by]
- Pterano: Now let us fly to the top of the Smoking Mountain, to claim the Stone of Cold Fire, and our destiny!
- Sierra: [snickering] Uh, yeah. Lead the way, Pterano, lead the way.
- [cut back to Littlefoot, Cera, Spike, Ducky, Petrie, and the Rainbow Faces, sniffling]
- Rainbow Face 2: This is it!
- Petrie: What it?
- Rainbow Face 1: A short cut to the top of the Smoking Mountain, of course.
- Cera: I don'f see anything.
- Rainbow Face 2: Maybe your eyes are getting in the way.
- Littlefoot: [sniffing] Hey, I smell something!
- Both: Excellent! [they push a rock]
- Cera: [coughing] It smells like Egg-Stealer breath in there!
- [Littlefoot looks in the green cave]
- Petrie: Yuck. How come it smell so bad?
- Littlefoot: Probably an underground river, somewhere way down there.
- Rainbow Face 1: Very perceptive. And whenever the Smoking Mountain heats up, the water bubbles and shoots up this shaft. Now, of there were something solid between you and the hot water...
- Littlefoot: It would push us right to the top!
- Rainbow Face 1: Mm-hmm.
- Littlefoot: Tell us what to do.
- [they all grunt by pushing a rock]
- Rainbow Face 1: All right, everyone, up you go. We're on a very tight schedule.
- Cera: What do you mean "we"? I don't see you climbing in.
- Rainbow Face 2: No room. You'll be fine.
- Littlefoot: How do you know all this stuff?
- Rainbow Face 2: Well, that would be telling, wouldn't it?
- [he clears throat]
- Rainbow Face 2: Still, keep asking questions. It sharpens the mind.
- Rainbow Face 1: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, keep your paws and tails away from the sides of the shaft. And I hope you find what you're looking for.
- Rainbow Face 2: We both do.
- Littlefoot: Thanks.
- [they both push a rock, then slamming, then they all gasp]
- Petrie: Now what happen?
- Littlefoot: We wait.
- [they look down from a lava, then starting to go up while they all scream, then they all jump off, then the rock falls closer to Petrie, then Cera saves him, then Littlefoot gasps]
- Petrie: Phew! Cera! You saved me!
- Cera: Yeah, so? No big deal.
- Petrie: Ohhh!
- Cera: Aw.
- [they all look at Petrie and Cera]
- Littlefoot: Look!
- Cera: Huh?
- Petrie: Huh?
- Littlefoot: [he walks to the Stone of Cold Fire] That way!
- [they all walk to a Stone of Cold Fire, with a deep rumble, then screaming]
- Ducky: The Smoking Mountain sounds VERY angry. It does! It does!
- [they all scream with a steam hissing, then they continue walking to a Stone of Cold Fire]
- Littlefoot: There it is. [looking at a Stone of Cold Fire, then they all walk]
- Petrie: Uh, now that we find stone, what do we do with it?
- [the Flyers appear]
- Sierra: You do nothing, because it's ours now!
- Petrie: [to Pterano] You lie to me, Uncle. You lie to everybody.
- Pterano: Petrie, believe me! I'm doing this for the good of all Flyers. With the power of the Stone of Cold Fire, I will restore us to our rightful place in the world!
- Petrie: You already got place in world. We got place too, and we like it just way it is!
- Pterano: No, you'll see. You'll all see. I was born to lead the herd. It is my right and my duty!
- Rinkus: Not yet.
- Pterano: Hear me, O Stone of Cold Fire!
- [they hear a deep rumble, then they all scream]
- Cera: What was that?
- Littlefoot: Maybe the Stone of Cold Fire is magic.
- Ducky: Maybe the Smoking Mountain is getting ready to blow up.
- Petrie: [to Ducky] Me like magic ideadl better!
- Pterano: O great Stone of Cold Fire, it is I, Pterano, the chosen one! [touches the Stone of Cold Fire] You see? I touch the stone, yet I do not burn. It is a sign.
- Rinkus: Yes, yes!
- Sierra: Get on with it, will you? [pushes Pterano]
- Pterano: In the name of the Noble Flyers who ruled the world so long ago, I beseech you, great stone. Bestow upon me your gifts! I said... [clears throat] ...bestow upon me your gifts!
- Rinkus: Oh, you... You fool! You rock-head, you!
- Sierra: Where's your cold fire, Pterano? Where are your magic powers?
- Pterano: What is the meaning of this?
- Sierra: It means we are taking over, see? Now, scram!
- Pterano: [falling to the ground, grunting] No! I should be the leader, me!
- Sierra: Come on, you stupid slab! Show me the power!
- Rinkus: No, me! Show it to me!
- [they both pound on the Stone of Cold Fire]
- Cera: I knew it was just a dumb old rock.
- Pterano: Oh, I wanted to make everything perfect. I was going to create a paradise.
- Petrie: [to Pterano] But we already got paradise back in Great Valley. You no need to fix, just got to not break.
- [the volcano rumbles]
- Petrie: Huh? Whoa! Speaking of break...
- Ducky: [screaming] Earthshake!
- [they all yell, then grunting, then the Stone of Cold Fire falls to the ground]
- Ducky: We have to climb away from here! We do! We do!
- Littlefoot: How? We'll never get off the mountain in time!
- [Petrie's Mom appears]
- Petrie: Mama!
- Cera: Whoa! That is one big Flyer!
- Flyer: Hyuck!
- Cera: Huh?
- Petrie's Mom: Oh, Petrie, I was so worried! And Ducky! Mmm! [hugs Ducky, giggling] As for you...
- Pterano: Honestly, I-I never meant to harm anyone. Things simply got out of control. I, uh, I...
- [the volcano rumbles again, with the rocks falling]
- All: Whoa!
- [they all scream, with Ducky falling and hanging on, then thundering her, then falling closer while screaming]
- Littlefoot: Ducky!
- [Ducky continues falling closer while screaming, then Pterano saves her]
- Littlefoot: Oh! Yea!
- Cera: We're so glad!
- Pterano: Hello!
- Ducky: Petrie was right. Somewhere inside you are good.
- Cera: Yeah, fine, whatever. Now can we all get out of here?
- [they Flyers go home with Littlefoot, Cera, and Spike, with Petrie's Mom flying, with the volcano rumbling, then they both continue pounding on the Stone of Cold Fire, then exploding, with Rinkus and Sierra to death, then they continue flying, with Rinkus and Sierra to death, then they both groan]
- Ducky: That is okay, Petrie's uncle. This is a much nicer ride than the last time. [giggling] It is! It is!
- [they all fly back home, with the dinosaurs chatting and chattering]
- Grandpa: Quite frankly, Pterano, your behaviour has been inexcusable. But, in light of the fact that you helped save the children, your punishment will be reduced.
- Pterano: [to Grandpa] It will?
- Grandpa: Yes. We have decided that you should be banished to the Mysterious Beyond, until five of the cold times have passed.
- Petrie: Five cold times?! That so long!
- Cera's Dad: Yes. And some of us think it should be a lot longer!
- Pterano: Oh, now, please. None of the Far Walkers want anything to do with me. I'll be alone and defenseless in the Mysterious Beyond. Is that really fair?
- Together: Yes!
- Petrie: Oh, let him stay! He very sorry!
- Petrie's Mom: That may be, but it doesn't change what he did, and he must be responsible for that.
- Pterano: Petrie, she's right.
- Petrie: But...
- Pterano: We must all be accountable for our actions. I'll be fine.
- Petrie: [wiping the tear off the eye] I will miss you, Uncle.
- Pterano: Perhaps someday I shall return to the herd, and prove that I can be trustworthy. I know there is much I can contribute if given the chance.
- [Petrie runs to Pterano, weeping]
- Pterano: I shall miss you too, Petrie.
- Cera's Dad: Now go on, you... You scoot! Go on, scoot! [he growls at Pterano]
- Pterano: Then again... [laughing] ...there are others I shan't miss at all!
- [Petrie waves at Pterano]
- Ducky: [sighs] Do you think there ever really was a Stone of Cold Fire?
- Littlefoot: Well, it was cold, and there was fire around it.
- Cera: Oh, please. Like I said, that was just a dumb old flying rock. There wasn't anything magic about it.
- Petrie: Yeah. Anyway, what we need with magic when we got each other?
- Littlefoot: Hey! The Far Walkers are about to leave. Let's watch them go.
- [he walks up to the Rainbow Faces, then they all watch the Far Walkers leave]
- Littlefoot: Hey! How did you get back here so fast?
- [the Far Walkers leave]
- Rainbow Face 1: Quite a sight, isn't it?
- Littlefoot: Uh, yeah. Are you leaving too?
- [they both watch the comet in the sky]
- Rainbow Face 2: Any time now.
- Littlefoot: That falling rock I saw, it never was a Stone of Cold Fire, was it?
- Rainbow Face 1: No. But you see, the stone never really mattered. It's what you did to discover the truth about it. That is what's important.
- Littlefoot: Wait! There's so much I don't understand. Why was that flying rock I saw different from the rest? Is there really such a thing as a Stone of Cold Fire? Who are you guys?
- Rainbow Face 1: You have a sharp mind, Littlefoot. Quite advanced for your species. Oh, I mean, for someone so young.
- Littlefoot: Oh. Thanks.

- [last lines, as Spike, Ducky, Cera, and Petrie walk up to Littlefoot]

- Cera: Yeah. No fair!
- Petrie: What you know we no know?
- Littlefoot: Oh, Petrie. There's so much we don't know. But that's part of the fun, thinking about how much we still have to learn.
- Cera: Hey! I know lots.
- Petrie: Me too! Know more than Uncle Pterano, that for sure. He not so smart after all.
- Ducky: [giggling] Oh, no! Oh, no! But we are plenty smart, right, Spike?
- Spike: Uh, huh?
